Facebook Surpasses Yahoo and Google Afraid of Facebook
Every year, the list of most of popular websites in the United States will be announced to the world. Two years before, Yahoo was in the first place. In February, 2008, Google overtook Yahoo and pushed Yahoo to second place. It was shocking news for Yahoo on that year. Again in the end of the year 2009, Yahoo has been overtaken by Facebook and now Facebook is in the second place with the 132 million unique visitors. The rate of growth is really very high in the year 2009, that you can see in the below chart:
Still Google is in the top place with 147.8 unique visitors. However, Google is afraid of Facebook, because Facebook Traffic passes Yahoo. Facebook is now nearing towards Google to reach the #1 place. Between December and January, the traffic of Facebook grew by 1.5 million. It is 0.5 million high when compare with the Google traffic growth. This is the main reason why Google fear of Facebook. Another reason for that fear is that the time spent in facebook by the visitors is high when comparing with the time spent in Google. So, there is no doubt with this growth rate, Facebook has chance and capability to reach the first place.
